Fear Shriek with a Cap?

I could swear that every time i read about this Fear Shriek has no cap and you can fear as many targets as you want as long they are in the 15m radius of effect. i could SWEAR that i tested this many many times in PvE and MAYBE in PvP (usually my FPS doesn’t allow me to see well in sieges, and it’s rare when i find 6+ asmos tightly packed and i stay there watching which ones didn’t get feared.

Yesterday tho, i was rifting and in a couple occasions 20+ asmos, that were not really high level 35-45 and 3 or 4 50s were really tight together and when i used my AoE fear bomb, i counted 6 feared targets and like 15 resists. I mean i don’t have good gear, but failing 15 fears at the same time in a bunch of low levels doesn’t sound right to me. This patter repeated itself all night.

So was it was always like this? Am i seeing things? Is it capped just for PvP? Was it ninja patched? Or i just an idiot that never paid attention to Fear Shriek?

Like i said "I COULD SWEAR" but not any more… help! :(

SM AOE Death Machine?

So with 1.9 around the corner I was thinking about damage.
Magma/Tempest Spirit + Spirit Armor + Dp + Spirit Self Destruct = Aoe oneshot?

Basically now with my Magma spirit DP buffed I can hit around 4-5k on the enemy faction. Now when you add in our pets scaling and armor spirit you could easily get high enough to do around 8-9k damage in one hit. Let alone it’s an AOE so you could be taking out entire groups.

Thought?

And here is what I think of them all, just my opinions no need to take it as fact.

Lv52 Strengthen spirit: coming from the pet line I think this is a great addition, instant cast full heal and dispel.. meaning you can pretty much keep your spirits HP at 100% all the time. The dispel also is a welcome addition in those sticky pvp situations.. but the 2min cooldown on it won’t make it too reliable. Overall I am happy with this skill, this in my mind translates to 0 downtime in all PvE situations as well as an extra burst of HP from spirit sub… you got that right! With the new earth elemental buffed out with chanter HP and your own.. welcome to paradise. (Also I hate to spoil it but look at the level 55 skill and please feel free to crud yourself when thinking of this + spirit recovery + that skill + spirit sub. You’re welcome!)

Lv55 Command: hypnotize: I think this ability will have it’s uses. As far as the skill translation goes I don’t know why a person would want to suicide blow up their pet in order to sleep a target.. though I should add that I have NO DOUBTS that this would be useful in an isntance for CCing. But then again who the #@$% runs an instance without a perer jelly/ the spirit armor buff on the pet if they are running this build? Sounds strange to me, let’s hope this isn’t really the final stigma or I see this being replaced often.

Lv52 Sleep captive: I think we might just replace sorcs in a half decent group. 1minute intervals are pretty solid values and 20 seconds of sleep is a fair amount of time. Following the CC build in PvP I can see this allowing us to utterly FACEROLL a target with CC alone. Overall this skill definately adds onto the entire shape of the spiritmaster class. It could go for a -tiny- reduction in cooldown but hey.. 1min cooldown and we get a sleep spell? #@$% YES! Now I can sleep those cleric bastards as well.

Lv55 Curse of death – phys def -1000, all elemental def -300, magic res -200 for 1 min.

I did include the skill description here because I am going to be blunt.

Physical defence is a broken stat, and a target taking 100 more damage a shot isn’t going to change anything (well on that note I do suppose after the PvP damage nerf it would be the signifigant number of.. 50 :flames:)

Magic resistance: what is the use of this spell to decrease magic resistance if… the target has high enough mres for us to be concerned about it.. this ability would have to be physical for it’s use to be like this.

All elemental defence: if this stacks with shackle of vulnerability, then I am happy. Very happy. If it doesn’t…

Overall I think this stigma is O.K. but I don’t think that I’ll take it in place of another stigma if I had to choose. Spirit sub would definately replace this one for -ME- at least.

Now here are the skills that aren’t stigmas :)

Lv51 Absorb – sounds like a basic nuke ability, could be useful for burst around the same concept of weaken spirit. I see the 100% HP recovery being pretty damn useful in PvE, the mana recovery is also nice because any spiritmaster can agree with me… we are the #1 mana chuggers in game.

Lv54 Curse of darkness: Let’s see… what sort of image can I put to THIS one?

I think we all can agree this skill will make people peel off their face. Especially chanters. I like! :grin:

Lv55 Command:spirit blessing (of the boyz): combine with spirit sub, spirit recovery, strengthen spirit, stone skin, high grade hp potions, and abyss hp pots and let the wrist slitting BEGIN! :sparkles:

Also btw with the new command spirit blessing of the boys (this joke is still luls)… I guess we are priests now!

Spirits that scale with our stuff

Incoming in 1.9 judging from the full korean patch notes and google trad. Take with a grain of googlesalt of course :D

Stats that will affect our pets include : all magical bonuses on items and manastones it seems. Also, PvP bonuses/maluses will be included in the regular item bonuses and not at the lower part so they’d be taken at the same time :)

Spirit Master – Currently Worst Class in the Game

They suck in pve and aerial pvp which only leaves ground pvp in rifts but whats the point of that when a sin or ranger can do that job 10 times as good.

The only class that might be worse is chanters but that kind of play style appeals to some people.

I’m hoping the new 2.0 skills will make my 50 sm worth playing again :/

Fear breaking?

So, I was grouping and killing some furbacks together with my alliance mates(we were 1 sin, 2 sorcs and moí). At some point we were facing a ranger/chanter that was rather geared and annoying as *. And as soon as I’d pop Curse of Fire or Shriek, for some reason it’d break a second later(which never happens in a PvP situation for me otherwise so far, if there isnt a blasted cleric around to dispel the fear, of course). Im 100% positive it landed, as I saw them with the debuff on, and as the little funky fire elemental, and of course I start casting Weaken Spirit, and midcast I just see them suddenly break and become normal.

When I have been duo’ing with a different sin, we’ve never had anything like this happen, so I’m guessing the sin I was with wasn’t the issue this time either. Could it be some sorc spell that was breaking it? Was particulary annoying as it happened several times, and when the ranger was someone capable of melting 7k HP in 3ish seconds… yeaaaah. :dazed:

Leaving equipment i’m wondering why he are full mboost?

i don’t see the reason for using mboost build, so I would be grateful if someone tell me with skills impact on the ability to mboost.

using mboost build is rly better than HP?

Some Substantial Thoughts on Spiritmaster…. (Warning: actual reading and thoughtful analysis inside. Casual readers, you’ve been warned)

Been a lvl 50 SM for awhile now, Love the class, but I’m oh so dearly hopeful for improvements upon its flaws (not just our tremendous scaling issue mind you, i mean hey miracles like completely revamping a Classes damage system so it actually WORKS dont happen very often) But there are other flaws in the system at the moment that have no excuse being there.

Example #1:
Why is my pet still not part of the party roster? There’s no excuse for Pets to not appear with the party bars. Pet HP in Lineage II could be seen by all party members, so its not like NCsoft doesn’t know how. Whats more, Pets should have full access to party buffs and party heals. Although this doesnt fix the many problems with our class its definitely something that should be implemented soon. Imagine how much more useful a pet would be in PvE runs like DP with Chanter mantras and SM buffs like Protection or BoF being applied to it. Not to mention the application of group heals and clerics being able to see the HP bar at all times would drastically increase Pet survivability (lets face it, even with Spirit recovery pets often take more damage then we can give out with our 10 sec CD heal, oh and lets not forget Spirit Sub with cleric support =O!!). It would also make skills like Armor Spirit less risky to use in those pesky boss fights where it sometimes has to be saved until the very end to make sure erosion hits (I’m looking at you telepathy controller! *shakes fist*). And its not just SM’s, I know clerics who would love to have Spirits be a part of the party roster so they could heal it. Its definitely one of the top fixes on my list =/

Example #2:
Pet speed. This one baffles me =/. I understand that all pets have different stats, specialties and whatnot, but because of this flaw the flying pet "fix" is worth jack ****. Even with basic 30% flight speed scrolls you already fly faster then the wind spirit (and you’re never caught dead without that scroll when you’re flying in the abyss anyhow) in addition to this you have added flight speed from armor making you even faster, totally leaving all your pets, including the Wind Spirit in the dust. Nothings changed. Before it was: didn’t wanna deal with an SM’s Pet? just fly into the air. Now its: Fly away until the spirit falls so far behind that it despawns and cant be summoned again because you cant summon in the air! we’re still just as shackled to the ground as ever. Flying pets did nothing for us cause it wasn’t done right. The only way to remedy this situation is to (AGAIN) use Armor Spirit which is a waste of stigma space in PVP. Its such a joke that I have to fill 3 stigma slots with stigmas that are nearly USELESS for pvp (in comparison to what COULD be there) just so I can have my pet keep up with me let alone actually making its damage useful enough to even bother casting its commands. Its a total joke, they didnt fix anything, they just gave us chocolate coated candy with crap filling, You dont realise you’ve been jipped until you take a bite.

Example #3: (more of a joke really)
Cloaking Word <- WHAT THE nyerk IS THIS!? Looks like something from the Spell Idea Reject bin. So many things wrong with this STIGMA (thats right it takes a whole stigma slot) that I wont even begin to list them here.

Although these (and many more problems that have been listed too many times) are things that need to be accounted for, I did think of a nice friendly idea for a sort of "Upgrade" to SM abilities without messing with the damage equations.

Something New To Fight For:

Idea:
Make pets cast pet skills =D. Simple right? Let my pet spend time casting Disturbance, or thunderbolt or detonation while i run around casting Debuffs and spawning orbs. Sorta like casting two skills at once. It takes Micro Managing to a whole new level and lets us get all of our damage skills out of the way so we can focus on applying the plethora of other useful skills/debuffs that SM is weighted down with that never get to be used because we’re too busy casting attack spells. It would improve our Burst DPS and give us time to actually access the whole of our skills instead of just the essential ones. I’d dream of the ability to just pop a macro button with all my pet skills lined up at the beginning of battle and then being able to dismiss pet attacks without a second thought while I focus on myself and my opponent. This is definitely a system that I personally believe would unlock our classes TRUE potential rather than trying to put our currently flawed system on steroids to try and fix it.

The Real Solution to All of This:
Making pets more self sufficient. In Lineage II, Pets (I mean the real pets like striders and wolfs not the summoned pets) could be equipped with Weapons and Armor to give them "Scaling". Pet skills came out of the pets attack time, not the owners. And for the love of god you couldnt outrun your pet cause you could make your pet use items to match your speed (thats right! It had an Inventory of its own!). I think these simple changes would revolutionize the way SM’s work and actually make our class work in a way that makes sense rather than a system that you have to struggle to make work the way you need it to.

In all Honesty, I would rather take Pet Casting over a complete scaling fix on all our skills. It just makes more sense to me. SM’s are plenty powerful, we just spend all our time casting for two, we get so bogged down between casting debuffs, DPS, and pet attacks that we cant keep up with using all our skills without becoming sitting ducks. I always sit at the end of a duel or pvp looking at the long list of skills that werent used because I didnt have time for them. The fact that it takes so long just to get our offensive started is the only real need for our fear, without it we would be long dead before we actually get to the part of the battle where we do damage.

Pet Casting Ftw in my opinion.

Magical Accuracy vs lvl difference

Does stacking magical accuracy way over opponents mres increase my chances to land a hit against a +7-10 lvls higher character? Or is the artificial enemy mres increase from higher level completely separate from normal mres and thus completely unavoidable no matter how high my magical accuracy is?

My SM is lvl 31 and I’ve parked it there to only PvP, but I constantly run into high lvl bobs who are willing to chase me across eltnen three times and back for 1 AP while resisting my every spell. The only way I can survive in a situation like that is if my CoE/root lands. So if it does help, I think I’ll socket for full MA, if not, then for either HP or MBoost.
