Blockbuster Employee of the Month

March 4th, 2010 Saintray No comments

I find it annoying to pay late fees on movies and I am too lazy to return them on time which leaves simply complaining about it.

I used to know a guy named Matthew who would sell me copies of the latest movies for five dollars each but they were all recorded by someone in a cinema with what appeared to be a low resolution web cam and epilepsy. Several times during each movie the person would shift positions or have people walk past in front and one time filmed the chair in front of him for at least twenty minutes. Matthew’s statement was that he did not know the quality before he got them but in one, the person filming answered his phone with "Hello Matthew speaking" and when I mentioned it to him he stopped selling me movies.

Dear Megan,

Thank you for your letter regarding overdue fees. As all four movies were outstanding examples of modern cinematic masterpieces, your assumption that I would wish to retain them in my possession is understandable, but incorrect. Please check your records as these movies were returned, on time, over three weeks ago.
I remember specifically driving there and having my offspring run them in due to the fact that I was wearing shorts and did not want the girl behind the counter to see my white hairy legs.

Regards, David.

Dear Megan,

Yes, they are definitely white and hairy. Viewed from the knees down, the similarity to two large albino caterpillars in parallel formation is frightening. People who knew what the word meant might describe them as ‘piliferous’, although there is something quite sexy about that word so perhaps they wouldn’t.

Dear Megan,

With the possible exception of Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, the movies were not worth watching let alone stealing. In Logan’s Run, for example, the computer crashed at the end when presented with conflicting facts and blew up destroying the entire city. When my computer crashes I carry on a little bit and have a cigarette while it is rebooting. I don’t have to search through rubble for my loved ones. The same programmers probably designed the Blockbuster ‘returned or not’ database.
Also, while one would assume the title Journey to the Centre of the Earth to be a metaphor, the movie was actually set in the centre of the earth which, being a solid core of iron with temperatures exceeding 4300? Celcius and pressures of 3900 tons per square centimetre, does not seem very likely.
Waterworld was actually pretty good though. My favourite bit was when they were on the water but the scene when Kevin Costner negotiated for peace, ending the war between fish and mankind moments before the whale army attacked was also very good.

Regards, David.

Dear Megan,

I have checked pricing at the DVD Warehouse and the cost of replacing your lost movies with new ones is as follows:

Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay $7.95
Waterworld $4.95
Journey to the Centre of the Earth $9.95
Logan’s Run $12.95

I have no idea why Logan’s Run is the most expensive of the four movies as it was definitely the worst. Have you seen it? I wouldn’t pay $12.95 for that. I would use the money to buy a good movie instead. Probably something with Steven Seagal in it. The entire premise comprised of living a utopian and carefree lifestyle with only three drawbacks – wearing seventies jumpsuits, living in what looks like a giant shopping centre and not being allowed to live past thirty. This would seem logical though as I would not want a bunch of old people hanging around complaining about their arthritis while I am trying to relax at the shopping centre in my jumpsuit trying not to think about the computer crashing.

I was recently forced to do volunteer work at an aged care hospital. Footage of these people during Tuesday night line dancing could be used as an advertisement for the Logan’s Run solution. The only good aspect of working there was that I halved their medication, pocketing and selling the remainder, explaining the computer listed that as their dose and they were welcome to check knowing their abject fear of anything produced after the eighteenth century would prevent them from doing so.
I also swapped my Sanyo fourteen inch portable television for their Panasonic wide screen plasma while they were sleeping, explaining that it had always been that way and their senility was simply playing up due to the reduced dosage of drugs.

Hi David

I have not seen those movies so I dont know what you are talking about. I prefer romantic comedies. If you have the movies we can’t rent them so we lose money and the fees are based on what we we would have made from renting them and we also have to purchase movies through our suppliers not from DVD Warehouse.

Dear Megan,

I myself am also a huge fan of romantic comedies. Perhaps we could watch one together. I have a new Panasonic wide screen plasma. My favourite romantic comedy is Fatal Instinct although it did not contain enough robots or explosions in my opinion and I was therefore unable to truly identify with the main characters on a personal and emotional level.
Recently, I was tricked into watching The Notebook which was about geese. Lots of geese. It also had something to do with an old lady who conveniently lost her memory so she could not remember being a nyerk throughout the entire film. I don’t recall a lot of it as I was too busy being cross about watching it. In a utopian future society she would have been hunted down and killed at thirty.

In regards to the late fees, I understand the amount is based on what you lose by not being able to rent the movies out. You probably had people lined up around the block waiting to rent Logan’s Run. For eighty two dollars though, I could have purchased six copies of it from DVD Warehouse or, as I have heard he is a bit strapped for cash, had Kevin Costner visit my house in person and re-enact key scenes from Waterworld in my bathroom.

Dear Megan,

Yes, they were on top of my fridge the whole time. Unfortunately I have a blind spot that prevents me from seeing this area of the kitchen as it is also where I keep my pile of unpaid bills.
Last night I slept on the kitchen floor with the fridge door open due to my air conditioner being broken and the temperature outside exceeding that of the centre of the earth. As my fridge emits a high pitched ‘beep’ every thirty seconds when left open, the vibrations from this caused the DVDs to wriggle forward over the space of many hours before toppling from the edge and I awoke to find them beside me on the pillow. As you have already waived the late fees, I will drop them off tonight and we will call it even.

Event Rewards

Hi Guys.

Easy question.

For what kind of event rewards would you bother to enter? Would it be a certain amount of kinah? How much then?
Would it be items, like enchantment stones, food, potions, crafting stones?
Or maybe pieces of armor, or weapons?

Please keep this thread clean from racewars please. Since we all know: Shugo > Asmodeans+Elyos+Balaur. They are stealing all our moneys :pow:

Siege times changed in the last patch?

So, just got the information that there was a siege today at 16.00GMT+1. Next Window is at 20.00GMT+1.

That means 2 Windows would have been passed after that. Am I correct in thinking that during weekdays there are only 2 vunerability windows max?

Is it normal for sieges during weekdays at 16.00GMT+1? So during normal workinghours?

A fun thread

December 28th, 2009 Saintray No comments
Just post your fun stuff in here ^^

I’ll take the lead:

10 Laws That Prove The World Is Nuts

In Bahrain, a male doctor may legally examine a woman’s genitals, but is prohibited from looking directly at them during the examination. He may only see their reflection in a mirror.

(Do they look different reversed?)

Muslims are banned from looking at the genitals of a corpse. This also applies to undertakers. The #@$ organs of the deceased must be covered with a brick or piece of wood at all times.

(A brick?)

The penalty for masturbation in Indonesia is decapitation.

(Much worse than ‘going blind!’)

There are men in Guam whose full-time job is to travel the countryside and deflower young virgins, who pay them for the privilege of having #@$ for the first time. Reason: under Guam law, it is expressly forbidden for virgins to marry.

(Let’s just think for a minute; is there any job anywhere else in the world that even comes close to this?)

In Hong Kong, a betrayed wife is legally allowed to kill her adulterous husband, but may only do so with her bare hands. The husband’s illicit lover, on the other hand, may be killed in any manner desired.

(Ah! Justice!)

Topless saleswomen are legal in Liverpool, England – but only in tropical fish stores.

(But of course!)

In Cali, Colombia, a woman may only have #@$ with her husband, and the first time this happens, her mother must be in the room to witness the act.

(Makes one shudder at the thought.)

In Santa Cruz, Bolivia, it is illegal for a man to have #@$ with a woman and her daughter at the same time.

(I presume this was a big enough problem that they had to pass this law?)

In Lebanon, men are legally allowed to do things with animals that I just don’t want to write about here, however the animals must be female. Having a bit of ‘hows your father’ with a male animal is punishable by death.

(Like THAT makes sense.)

In Maryland, USA it is illegal to sell condoms from vending machines with one exception: Prophylactics may be dispensed from a vending machine only ‘in places where alcoholic beverages are sold for consumption on the premises.’

(Is America a great country or what? Well, not as great as Guam!)

Last weeks hacks maybe security leak at NCSoft?

December 17th, 2009 Saintray No comments
Something fishy is going on.

More and more accounts are getting hacked, which then are used either spamming goldsites, sending links to players saying they are GM’s and that played is getting banned and needs to visit this or that site, or used to farm.

Now I bet a lot of people that get "hacked" didn’t actually get hacked, but they gave the login details themselves by visiting one of those websites. For most people playing MMO’s, they are known with these phishing posts, and will never visit these sites. Yet, also some of these vetarans got hacked.

I think there are several ways for ‘hackers’ to obtain login details from players.

1) They send you a link, you visit it, login with your account info, and boom, they change your password.

2) They send you a link, you visit it, get a keylogger, log into Aion and they change your password.

3) You visit gold/powerlevel/etc sites, which might contain a keylogger. You login in Aion, and boom, they change your password.

4) You have visited gold/powerlevel/etc sites. The login details you used there are similar to your gameaccount. You stop buying gold since you don’t need gold anymore, they try to login with your details, and boom, they change your password.

5) You actually get hacked. The only way possible would be trough a leak in the Aion software, I think.

6) NCSoft made a booboo and doesn’t have their security up to date, thus loosing those login details.

7) Mad NCSoft employee (harrased at work/got fired/does not get paid enough) is selling the information.

Yes, I understand most people will loose their account by option 1,2,3 and 4. But I cannot imagine some all the people that lost their accounts lost them that way. Some of those people are playing MMO’s for over 10 years. Veterans who know this method will never visit one of those sites, still they get hacked. So what gives?

Power of Restoration?

December 11th, 2009 Saintray No comments
So, yesterday I dropped a Power of Restoration stigma stone, the level 44 one that gives wooping 800HP over time.

I cannot imagine that stigma be worth anything more then the vendor will pay me for that. Can’t be for sure since it’s not for sale at the TB, maybe for that reason, since it’s probably worth crap.

At leve 50 there is one that gives 900HP over time. This is way less then 10% of my health over a whole minutes time, so again, I cannot see the advantage of a stigma like that. Can’t even imagine why it exists.

Is this stigma needed to equip some uber advanced stigma or something? Is there any use of it?

I used the search function here but that doesn’t give any answers. Some answers would be greatly appreciated.

Guide Betoni quest – Pure awesomeness (Asmo version of Xenothingie)

December 8th, 2009 Saintray No comments
Sorry my guide is not so neat as the one for the Elyos. But this should help you getting your Betoni weapon.

Last Friday evening I reached level 43. This level gives you access to a quest for a weapon that you will use for a long time. Depending on your class of course, so for me this means the sword or the mace. I am a mace using Templar. There are a lot of people agreeing with this, and a lot are totally against that, and told me to get the sword.
There are many discussions about the choice, so leave those discussions there, its not about that.

In short an explanation of what you need to do for this quest.
- Find Betoni (which sounds strangly familiar to some vegetable?)
- Find a rift
- Go to the stormcircle in Heiron, talk to some NPC there.
- Kill 2 kinds of mobs, for 2 kinds of drops
- Deliver back to NPC
- Go back to Betoni
- Talk to Bolvig, who is again at that stormcircle.
- Kill 7 reaper squads
- Talk to Bolvig
- Talk to Betoni
- Done

Sounds easy right?

If u don’t like reading, then this is endpoint for you, above is explanation of what to do for the quest. If u want a bit more detail, read on.

- Find Betoni (which sounds strangly familiar to some vegetable?)
Anyways. In Beluslan, you need to talk to a NPC called Betoni. I’m not a RP’er, so I don’t really care why I have to do what I have to do. I just know I want that weapon.
I play on Spatalos, this is a pretty busy server, and although we have been hit by the banwave (*applauds for NCSoft*), especially on the Elyos side, on your way to Betoni, you will always meet at least 1 group of Bunnies. You don’t do the Betoni quest alone at level 43. So meeting Elyos/Bunnies on your way to a quest is always a big plus. After you raped them, which I assume you did, since you’re an Asmodean and you are better then a Bunny, go to the questhub where Betoni is as shown on my map.

Oh, I went alone for this part, the rest of the group was already causing mayhem in Heiron.

You talk to Betoni and he asks you to talk to some dude in Heiron. I tried to expressmail him to get it over with, but apparently, you can’t . *Sigh* no, it’s not gonna be that easy.
Alright, I already knew this quest would take some more work then that. So I went to look for an open rift. Best chance, and best location is at Beluslan Roof. At the waterfall there is most of the times every 4 hours a rift. And I was lucky, it was open. So Iwent trough this portal and ended up in Heiron.

- Find a rift

Entering rifts is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you gonna get.
Most of the times when you enter one alone, you will find the other side swarming with Fluffy bunnies. I was lucky, nobody on the other side.

First thing I do when twilighting (I could say rifting, but that sounds like something I do with my anus) is getting to my kisk location. For those that are not familiar with Aion, a kisk is a portable bindlocation. You can set that up at most locations and bind yourself at that spot. When you die, you can resurrect at that location.

There are personal kisks (you can get them from quests), groupkisks, which gives 6 players the option to bind there, and the bigger ones, the legionkisks. I always keep at least 2 kisks with me to be able to bind myself whenever I’m at a dangerous location. Kisks however, can be destroyed by the other faction, or get destroyed automatically after 2 hours.
I will not place my kisk location on the map, since it is so well hidden and hard to get to, that only few know about it, and I like to keep it that way. Never has a whitewinged destroyed our kisk there. So you will have to find a good kisk location yourself.

- Go to the stormcircle in Heiron, talk to some NPC there.
From my awesome kisk location I went to meet the dude that Betoni send me to. He is at the stormcircle somewhere hidden around a corner. Good thing quests gives you locations or I would have to rely on someone else to tell me where he was.
The NPC asks you to get 4 drops from watermonstersthingies at Stenon Bay, and 10 drops from bats above Nolantis Ruins. Again, these mobs you can locate with the quest menu.
This is the easiest part of the quests actually, since the mobs are not elite, and for some reason, Elyos themselves don’t like those spots (except for the YouYou team who do nothing else then run around Heiron to look for Asmodeans). For killing these mobs I had already met up with Guinnevere (my wife) the sorc, Azaqua a.k.a. Gloeilampie the Glad, Zoo the beastloving chanter, and Whitee, our drunk Chanter. Oh my char is Saintray, a templar. And I must admit, I had a few whiskies down the hatch that night.

- Kill 2 kinds of mobs, for 2 kinds of drops
The location at Stenon Bay had once been invested by bots. I did not see one here. So again a good job from NCSoft. After getting the all the items we needed we went back to the Stormcircle to finish that part of the quest. On our way we meet the YouYou team a couple of times. And I’m not ashamed to say we died a couple of times as well. The guys are level 50, fully abyssgear buffed. And well, we just don’t run from fights, rather try and die fighting then to be a coward.

Elyos

By that time it was already 03.00. My wife got tired and went to bed. She was level 42 still and could not do the quest anyways. The Cleric we had met up with a bit earlier in Heiron (our midgethealer with ze French accent Darkdog) was also logging off, and also Zoo was fast asleep around that time, so our group started shrinking.

- Deliver back to NPC
Do that, its part of the quest.

- Go back to Betoni
After completing that, I had to return to Beluslan, talk to Betoni and get back to Heiron to meet up with Bolvig.
You don’t wanna loose to much time on this, so you do this right.
1) Your return should be bound to the place where Betoni is. Deliver the quest and pick up the next one.
2) Use a city scroll to go to a city with an abyss gate.
3) Go to the Abyss, and let a fortress guard kill you = no xp or ap loss!
4) And Boom Baby, you are back at your kisk location within 2 minutes.

- Talk to Bolvig, who is again at that stormcircle.
Alright then. Time to go to Bolvig and receive his quest.

- Kill 7 reaper squads
Kill 7 reaper squads. Sweet.
The Reaper squads are cityguards at Japan Village (Jeiaparan Village, I know, but try saying or writing that after a few whiskies)

The downside of killing guards at a village or city is that there are bound to be Bunnies around. And ofcourse there were.
What I didn’t know is that Japan Village is a camped place by high levels, who want to prevent you from getting your quest done. Which makes this quest competitive really. Really enjoyed this part.
Although getting slaughtered sometimes, it’s great to get 2.500 abyss points from 1 kill. Kill some of those a couple of times and you get your level up a bit.
To bad you gotta share those points, but hey, still cool.
So we drank, had fun with jokes, ran trough Heiron and met Asmodean groups everywhere. Felt like Beluslan almost. At 5.30 we (Azaqua, white and me) decided to finish that quest and take down those guards.

After killing a few of the reaper squad, which are elite, but no idea what level they are, 3 more Asmos came who also needed the quest. We grouped up and started at the last few.
In the meanwhile we slaughtered many Elyos that thought they could kill us since we were busy on those elites.

- Talk to Bolvig
And then, finally the last one, and back to Bolvig. Bolvig gives you another shitload of XP (why ffs, is the weapon not enough reward?).

- Talk to Betoni
Bolvig asks you to drop off a letter at Betoni, so you use return, and get your Betoni weapon, and another shitload of xp, just for dropping of the letter.

Man you get a lot, and I mean A LOT, xp during this quests just for talking to those NPC’s here and there. But to be honest it’s a great quest.
So yeah, like I said, I chose the Betoni Warhammer, which is extendable, and having great fun with it.

Yesterday my wife became level 43, so that mend, back to Heiron. We did the entire quest in the evening except killing the reaper squad. A Monday evening means I need to get up early for work the next day. So we decided to wake up even earlier, and finish the quest in the morning. So that was today.

We didn’t bother to bring a healer for this one though. It was just Azaqua (lvl 44), Guinnevere (43) and me (43). I kited and damaged the reaper squads, while Aza and Guinne both did damage on the mobs. I just took 1 or 2 rests per mob to get HP back while Guinne kept the mob asleep. During that also keeping a level 48 ranger away from us and some low level ranger, who just could not resist and kept dying because he came to close.
After killing the last reaper, the level 48 ranger had found some high level friends and they chased and killed us, so we could also finish the quest for Guinne.

So uhm, that’s what you gotta do, gratz if u got it. :)

Alright then. Time to go to Bolvig and receive his quest.

And then, finally the last one, and back to Bolvig. Bolvig gives you another shitload of XP (why ffs, is the weapon not enough reward?).

Man, I hope there are more quests like that Betoni.

R.I.P Balaur

December 8th, 2009 Saintray No comments
So I don’t like racism, why can Malaur not have their own r.i.p. thread right? I mean, they are botting the abyss. They walk around like some automated process, and get abyss points by botting that way. How is this fair to anyone?
Also, I have a feeling that NCSoft don’t care. They never banned Balaur, only Elyos and Asmodeans.

So, I heard rumours that balaur are also exploiting the Abyss. They can get killed, and then respawn at the exact same location without having to run back there, with a downtime of sometimes less then a minute. I mean, what’s that all about?

Also, their flying mount, that Dredgion, waaaaay overpowered. I cannot even get close enough to hit it once with my level 27 mace, really, wtf, I’m already level 26.

Look at this guy. I tried looking him up in the database, no show, and still he is there. Also have you seen his sword? I heard whispers saying that he got it from NCSoft. It’s a conspiracy.

Here is proof of one botting. I made a ticket at NCSoft. I got a response after 2 days, saying I might need to check my temperature? I mean, WTF, they just insult me.

So what do you guys think?
