I fell across something today that I found interesting from an "anti-keylogger" perspective. It is a piece of software called Rapport that a large number of banks and financial institutions are sponsoring and distributing as a means of ensuring their customers are protected when entering their personal information via the internet.

The software is being hailed by the banking industry as "taking the right approach of focusing on what needs to be done rather than fighting a lost battle." Essentially, banks are no longer relying on their customers having a secure browsing environment to access their banking websites. Instead they are distributing free software to shut down keyloggers at the source.

Rapport in a nutshell:
Rapport secures browser communication from keyboard to website. It detects and prevents Man–in-the-Browser, Man-in-the-middle, phishing, and other attacks launched directly against the user. This includes programs taking screen shots and other forms of data capture. Essentially, if your anti-virus fails you and a keylogger or malware slips through the cracks onto your system, Rapport is deisgned to shoot it dead in it’s tracks.

Why this is relevant to Aion players:
Anyone can download this software, even if it is not distributed by your bank. Having an extra layer of protection means you can worry less about entering email addresses, passwords, and other personal data into websites you commonly access (including Aion related ones).

You can activate Rapport on any website you wish to be secured. If you set it up correctly, the software will actually warn you if you try to enter your Aion username or password into the wrong website. I have tried this today and I am feeling that little bit more secure knowing Rapport is there doing it’s thing.
