To tune down the griefing…
how it works
1) Getting Karma
Players that kill others 5 levels lower or more, start gaining Karma (or lords curses to follow the lore, watever).
the more karma, the bigger chances that when they die they will drop one or more pieces of their equipped gear.
the lower the level they kill, the more karma/curses they get
2) What happens with it
Over a certain karma, they dont gain AP from players nor mobs, NPCs of both factions are aggro to them, and dying costs them the same as dying in PvE, no more 1kinah soulheals
Also, to prevent lvl50s going to lvl25 zones with greens/whites and still be powerhouses to latter switch to their gold stuff when PvEing in their zones, players over a certain karma care also red to their own faction, and those that kill them will gain AP just like they were enemies
3) Getting rid of it
Karma goes down by spending time logged, by killing mobs, or (fastest method) by killing enemy faction players within their level range
4) Inverse Griefing
Players that try to gangbang a higher level player under the assumption that he cannot touch them will get "flagged", and hence not protected by the above system, once the high level has been purposedly attacked first, he can retaliate without earning Karma
5) Sieges
Karma system is disabled in the area of effect of a fortress when it is vulnerable
For this to work, they’d need to show the level of the opposite players, so noone can claim they accidentally griefed a low level player
